(RxWiki News) The number of coronavirus cases continues to rise in the United States.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at publication time, 2,063,812 coronavirus cases and 115,271 related deaths had been reported in the US.

The number of cases jumped by 25,468 from the day before.

Compared to May 25 of this year, this is a difference of more than 400,000 cases and more than 16,000 deaths.

However, the CDC noted that the agency does not know the exact number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths. This is because symptoms might not appear immediately, there is a delay in reporting and testing, and they know many people are not getting tested or seeking medical care. Plus, the CDC noted that there may be differences in how states are confirming COVID-19 numbers.

New information continues to become available as health officials learn more about the virus.

Twelve states have reported more than 50,000 COVID-19 cases:

• California (145,643 cases; 4,989 deaths)
• Florida (71,589 cases; 2,925 deaths)
• Georgia (56,801 cases; 2,446 deaths)
• Illinois (132,732 cases; 6,470 deaths)
• Maryland (61,701 cases; 2,939 deaths)
• Massachusetts (105,395 cases; 7,576 deaths)
• Michigan (65,836 cases; 6,013 deaths)
• New Jersey (166,603 cases; 12,589 deaths)
• New York (173,137 cases; 8,489 deaths)

  • New York City (206,322 cases; 22,076 deaths)

• Pennsylvania (78,462 cases; 6,211 deaths)
• Texas (86,011 cases; 1,957 deaths)
• Virginia (54,506 cases; 1,546 deaths)

These numbers are the total reported cases and total deaths versus confirmed numbers.

The CDC said it would continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
