Turmeric

A bright orange root of a tropical plant native to Asia. Turmeric is a key ingredient in many Indian dishes and is essential to commercial curry powders. It contains a potent antiinflammatory, antioxidant yellow pigment called curcumin, and turmeric also acts as an antimicrobial digestive aid that indirectly supports the immune system. Turmeric is sold in dried powdered form and may be purchased in all types of food markets.
